Revisiting the Viscoelastic Theory of Superionic Conductors - Thermoelectric Properties in Mind -, M. Aniya (Kumamoto Univ.)
Among the different thermoelectric materials, in recent years, the noble metal chalcogenide-based compounds are attracting particular interests due their high figure of merit. Some of these compounds are well known as materials that exhibit high ionic conduction. Based on this observation, the viscoelastic theory of superionic conductors which was used previously to study the properties of Ag chalcogenides is revisited. In particular, the role of the Thomas-Fermi screening parameter in the composition dependence of the sound velocity and diffusion coefficient of Ag-Se system is investigated. The result provides an insight to exploit the alloying effect in the development of thermoelectric materials.
