Solid-state NMR of ion conductors, Y. Noda (Kyoto Univ.)
While routine optimization of solid-state NMR measurements has become widely accessible through standardized manuals, the rigorous interpretation of resulting lithium-ion dynamics remains highly challenging. This lecture provides a practical approach to analyzing ion motion by bridging intuitive physical images with detailed mathematical modeling. We examine five key methodologies: relaxation times, lineshape analysis, spin-alignment echo (SAE), exchange NMR, and diffusion NMR. By addressing critical pitfalls such as 7Li spin diffusion and rotational recoupling, we demonstrate how establishing a clear conceptual visualization followed by precise mathematical analysis serves as the ultimate cornerstone for accelerating solid-state battery development.
