Ion diffusion study by a local magnetic probe of μSR, I. Umegaki (KEK) et al.

A local magnetic probe of muon spin rotation and relaxation (μSR) is a powerful tool to detect magnetic order or small changes in magnetic field to study magnetic properties in condensed matter physics. This technique can be also applied to battery materials to detect ion diffusion. Since ion carriers of Li and Na have finite nuclear magnetic moment I with a high natural abundance, ion diffusion can be detected through a change in magnetic field that muon feels. The presentation will introduce μSR technique with some results.
